Why am I not improving?

I enjoy the game. I love the thrill of the chase. I understand the principles involved. I know skills learnt here are transferable. I know I need to practise regularly. So why am I not improving?


I need to practise everyday. I need to read chess daily. I need to solve tactical problems. But I don't! Each week I decide I am going to start a new program but I always forget until on Mondays I realise I have a game coming up and I have not done anything...

I resign.....

 

To get to the point I lost my first game. Bumped up to board 1, I suffered in a tight game until a beautiful rook sacrifice undid me. I saw it just before it happened but as I had made the blunder, it reminded me of the importance of practising chess. I am at home on Board 3 where I normally win. So all in all a poor start to the the season but there will be other games. 


Overall the atmosphere on the first evening of the new season was electric. Next week is the league cup. Hopefully I can sc...
